Behind the Cameras: Why Nothing Changes for Our Patients<\/span><\/h2>\n

Earlier this year, we welcomed a television production team into Dr Preema London Clinic for the very first time.
<\/span><\/p>\n

For Dr Preema, it was a memorable experience. While she’s spent many years educating patients in her treatment room and contributing to magazines, newspapers and industry publications, having television cameras inside the clinic felt very different.
<\/span><\/p>\n

Like many doctors, she’s far more at home sitting opposite a patient than speaking to a camera.
<\/span><\/p>\n

Education has always been an important part of Dr Preema’s work, whether that’s directly with her patients, through her contributions to the national press or by helping people better understand aesthetic medicine. If opening the clinic to television cameras helps even more people better understand medical aesthetics and the importance of making informed treatment decisions, then embracing a new challenge felt worthwhile
<\/span><\/p>\n

But what mattered most during filming, was making sure the cameras never changed the care our patients received.
<\/span><\/p>\n

Every consultation still took place. Medical histories were reviewed, informed consent was obtained, and every patient was assessed as an individual. Every clinical decision remained centred on what was right for the patient – not what made good television.
<\/span><\/p>\n

Because while the cameras were new, our responsibilities weren’t.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Every Patient Starts with a Consultation<\/span><\/h2>\n

Television naturally focuses on treatments, but one of the things filming highlighted was just how much happens before treatment ever begins.
<\/span><\/p>\n

Behind every treatment is a great deal of preparation. The treatments and technologies we choose to offer, the clinical protocols we develop and the ongoing training of our team are all carefully considered to ensure every patient receives safe, appropriate and effective care.
<\/span><\/p>\n

That same philosophy remained unchanged throughout filming.<\/span><\/p>\n

Every patient who visits our clinic\u2014whether attending a private appointment or being followed by television cameras\u2014begins with a detailed medical consultation. We take time to understand their concerns, review their medical history, discuss their expectations and assess whether a treatment is clinically appropriate. Just as importantly, we ensure every patient has the information they need to make an informed decision.
<\/span><\/p>\n

Consent is never treated as a formality. It’s an ongoing conversation, and patients should always feel comfortable asking questions, taking time to consider their options or deciding not to proceed.
<\/span><\/p>\n

During filming, Dr Preema remained closely involved in the consultation and assessment process as Medical Director. For treatments such as Exomind, every patient was medically assessed for suitability before treatment, exactly as they would be on any other clinic day.
<\/span><\/p>\n

One of the principles that has always guided Dr Preema’s approach is that every treatment should be in the patient’s best interests. Sometimes that means recommending a different treatment. Sometimes it means waiting. Occasionally, it means deciding not to treat at all.
<\/span><\/p>\n

Those conversations rarely make compelling television.
<\/span><\/p>\n

But they’re often the ones that matter most.
<\/span><\/p>\n

That’s because great medical care isn’t defined by the treatments you perform, but by the clinical judgement behind every recommendation.
<\/span><\/p>\n

The Production Worked Around the Clinic\u2014Not the Other Way Around<\/span><\/h2>\n

One of the biggest misconceptions about filming inside a medical clinic is that the day revolves around the cameras.
<\/span><\/p>\n

The reality is quite the opposite.
<\/span><\/p>\n

Consultations weren’t shortened because filming was running behind. Patients weren’t rushed through appointments to stay on schedule. If someone needed more time to ask questions or discuss their treatment options, they were given that time.
<\/span><\/p>\n

The production adapted to the clinic, not the other way around.<\/span><\/p>\n

Just as importantly, we remained mindful of the many patients who had no involvement in the programme whatsoever.
<\/span><\/p>\n

Protecting patient confidentiality is fundamental to everything we do, so filming required careful planning throughout the day. A<\/span>reas of the clinic were managed around appointments, cameras were positioned thoughtfully, and filming paused whenever necessary to ensure existing patients could continue their visit with the same privacy, discretion and reassurance they would<\/span><\/p>\n

expect on any other day.
<\/span><\/p>\n

For us, that was never negotiable.<\/span><\/p>\n

A Milestone We’ll Always Remember<\/span><\/h2>\n

Welcoming a television crew into the clinic was something we’d never experienced before, and it’s a milestone we’ll always remember.

For Dr Preema, however, it also served as a reminder of how fortunate she feels to do the work she does every day.
<\/span><\/p>\n

Helping patients make informed decisions, supporting them throughout their treatment journey and sharing honest, evidence-based advice have always mattered far more to Dr Preema than appearing on television.
<\/span><\/p>\n

We’re looking forward to sharing the experience with you once the programme has aired and hope it offers a genuine glimpse into the care, clinical judgement and attention to detail that underpin every patient journey at Dr Preema London Clinic.
