CoolSculpting & Fat Freezing at Dr Preema London Clinic

Dr Preema London Clinic has a long history with CoolSculpting. Dr Preema Vig was the first UK doctor to oversee its launch and hold medical responsibility for CoolSculpting in the UK in 2010, giving her extensive experience with cryolipolysis and non-surgical fat reduction.

We no longer offer CoolSculpting at the clinic. Today, our chosen fat-freezing technology is Cristal Pro by French medical device manufacturer Deleo.

As our previous CoolSculpting technology reached the end of its supported lifecycle, we took the opportunity to review the latest cryolipolysis systems available rather than automatically upgrading to another CoolSculpting device.

Following that review, we chose Cristal Pro. One of the features that particularly appealed to us was its ultrasound assessment capability, allowing our practitioners to visualise and measure the subcutaneous fat layer and support a more personalised approach to treatment planning.

Is CoolSculpting safe?

CoolSculpting is a non-invasive cryolipolysis treatment that was widely used for reducing localised areas of subcutaneous fat. As with any medical aesthetic treatment, however, appropriate patient selection, assessment and an understanding of the potential risks are important.

Common temporary effects associated with cryolipolysis can include redness, swelling, bruising, tenderness, numbness or altered sensation in the treated area.

Less common complications can also occur. These include paradoxical adipose hyperplasia (PAH), a rare adverse effect in which the treated fatty tissue increases rather than decreases in size.

This is one of the reasons we believe fat-freezing treatments should begin with a thorough consultation and assessment rather than being viewed simply as a cosmetic procedure.

Dr Preema London Clinic no longer offers CoolSculpting. Our current cryolipolysis treatment is Cristal Pro by Deleo, with suitability and treatment planning assessed individually for each patient.

Who is suitable for CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting was designed for people looking to reduce localised areas of subcutaneous fat rather than as a treatment for general weight loss. Suitability depended on factors including the area being treated, the amount and type of fat present, medical history and individual treatment goals.

A consultation and assessment were therefore important before treatment.

Is CoolSculpting a quick fix for weight loss?

No. CoolSculpting was a body-contouring treatment rather than a weight-loss solution and was intended to target specific pockets of fat.

Results from cryolipolysis develop gradually as the body processes the affected fat cells over the weeks and months following treatment. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle remains important for long-term body composition and weight management.

Which areas can CoolSculpting treat?

CoolSculpting applicators were developed to treat a range of areas containing localised subcutaneous fat, including the abdomen, flanks, thighs, upper arms and beneath the chin.

The areas suitable for treatment depended on the individual patient’s anatomy and the applicators available.

Can more than one area be treated with CoolSculpting?

Yes. Depending on the treatment plan and the CoolSculpting system being used, more than one area could be treated as part of a body-contouring programme.

At Dr Preema London Clinic, we previously invested in two CoolSculpting systems, which also allowed us to offer DualSculpting, where two areas could be treated simultaneously.

Does Dr Preema London Clinic still offer CoolSculpting?

No. Dr Preema London Clinic previously offered CoolSculpting for many years, but we have since moved to Cristal Pro by Deleo as our chosen technology for non-surgical fat freezing.

What does Dr Preema London Clinic offer instead of CoolSculpting?

We now offer Cristal Pro, a medical cryolipolysis system developed by French medical device manufacturer Deleo.

Cristal Pro uses controlled cooling to target localised subcutaneous fat and can be combined with ultrasound assessment to help us measure the fat layer and personalise treatment planning.

What is the difference between CoolSculpting and Cristal Pro?

CoolSculpting and Cristal Pro are different branded systems that use the same underlying principle of cryolipolysis, commonly known as fat freezing, to target localised subcutaneous fat.

One of the features that attracted us to Cristal Pro was its ultrasound assessment capability, which allows our practitioners to visualise and measure the fat layer before treatment and use this information when planning an individual patient’s treatment.

Following our experience with CoolSculpting and review of the available technologies, Cristal Pro is now our chosen fat-freezing system at Dr Preema London Clinic.
