Dr Preema Vig shares her thoughts on the best new treatments on the rise in the coming year.

The Ear-tox

Wearing heavy earrings can cause the holes from piercing to stretch into a bigger hole. In extreme cases, the lobe can split in two. Ear rejuvenation, also known as ‘ear-tox’, is a new non-surgical treatment which involves injecting a Hyaluronic dermal filler to strengthen and plump up the earlobes.

I do this treatment regularly and I use Juvederm – there is no numbing required as it really doesn’t hurt and only takes seconds to complete.

The Hand-over

A resurfacing treatment can diminish the appearance of brown spots and pigmentation on your hands. As your hands naturally lose fat as you age, you can also opt to have a Hyaluronic dermal filler treatment such as Profhilo to immediately re-plump and replenish volume to the back of the hands to provide a supple and youthful appearance.

I encourage patients to protect and maintain results with the daily use of medical grade skincare at home.

The Techneck treatment

Smartphones and tablets might be zapping our free time and sleep, but they’re also causing our necks to wrinkle. I’m seeing a growing number of requests to address the wrinkles and fine lines in the neck area caused by looking down at a phone and computer or tablet.

Solutions for the crepey skin of the neck and décolletage includes injectibles such as Profhilo, which addresses laxity, fine lines, and improve skin tones and texture.

The ‘No Treatment’ look

Gone are the days when you wanted your face to look obviously ‘done’, the latest trend is to have small tweaks – nicknamed ‘micro-tweakments’ – to your appearance.

My signature approach is less is more. I can treat the upper face with botulinum toxin injections (botox) and the mid/lower face with a combination injectable treatment style to provide results that deliver a refreshed, well rested, and slightly younger looking you.

I can also treat a sagging jawline with a stage-by-stage ‘Jaw line lift’, which provides results that enhance natural beauty so that cosmetic intervention is not detected.

The Ab sculptor & butt lift

If you’ve been struggling to define your abs or your fitness regimes are not ‘sculpting’ and lifting your derriere, the new EMSculpt could help.

This is a novel, non-surgical contouring treatment which uses an electromagnetic field to simultaneously build muscle and cause fat cell disruption. BTL EMSculpt is the first device of its kind that goes beyond waist-line reduction and addresses not only fat loss but abdominal contouring through muscle tone.

Muscles represent 35% of the human body, but existing aesthetic treatments only address fat. BTL EMsculpt introduces a first of its kind application as it uses its unique magnetic field. HIFEM technology penetrates through the skin to impact fat, as well as muscle tissues.

Once penetrated, the energy induces supramaximal muscle contractions that are accompanied by a rapid metabolic reaction in fat cells to not only strengthen and build muscle but also break down fat. This is the only technology that destroys fat while simultaneously building muscle, all while leaving the surrounding tissues unaffected.
