Growing numbers opting for operations to get rid of a double chin.

Many are seeking out surgeries and procedures that can produce more defined jawlines and reduce the size of the jowel area over fears that is does not look flattering in photographs.

Some families are more susceptible to developing double chins – caused by a sagging in a sheet of fat around the neck – while ageing and lifestyle also play a part.

Dr Preema Vig said there had been a surge in demand for procedures targeting the neck area during in the last year.

‘Programmes such as Instagram, Twitter and Youtube promote selfies and we are finding people feel the pressure and critique how they appear in social media posts,’ she said.
